CONSERVATION THEORY’S ORIGINS ARE LINKED TO A LOVE OF MUSIC AMOUNG FRIENDS AND A DESIRE TO HELP PROTECT THE EARTH. EDDIE AND MARK FORMED OPUS TRUST IN 2004 TO TRY AND EDUCATE FOLKS ABOUT OPTIONS FOR PROTECTING THE EARTH. THEY HAD ALWAYS HAD STRONG TIES TO MUSIC. AFTER WINNING A GIBSON BANJO AND HAVING IT PRESENTED TO HIM BY THE MAN HIMSELF, EARL SCRUGGS, EDDIE AND HIS WIFE LYNNE KNEW FATE HAD SMILED UPON THEM. THEY BOTH LEARNED TO PLAY AND THROUGH A PRESERVATION PROJECT FOR ONE THOUSAND ACRES IN THE SOUTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS EDDIE LYNNE AND MARK ALONG WITH SCOTT HILL AND MARVIN MIZE FORMED THE FIRST INCARNATION OF CONSERVATION THEORY, NAMED AFTER THEIR PRESERVATION LEANINGS. LATER JOINED BY MARTY HOPKINS AND JEREMY NUNNELLEY THE BAND IS A DIVERSE DEMOCRATIC UNIT DRIVEN BY MULTIPLE INFLUENCES AND DIFFERING PERSONALITIES ALL COMPILED TO BRING FORTH THE SPIRIT OF ORGANIC MUSIC. A MUSIC WITH A LIFE OF ITS OWN, CONTAGIOUS AND FUN FOR AUDIENCE AND BAND ALIKE.
